Wedding + Elopement FAQs

How do we get started?

Contact me with your dates and vision. Let me know where you plan to marry and what other events you might like to have covered (gatherings, rehearsals, an engagement session….)

What package is best for us?

Wedding coverage begins at $3,500 for up to eight hours of coverage and approximately 500 photographs. Your engagement session is included.

Elopement coverage begins at $2,300 for up to four hours of coverage and approximately 250 photographs. Your engagement session is included.

Engagement sessions begin at $450 (unless booking a full wedding package with me) for up to one hour of coverage and at least 30 photographs. I love scheduling an engagement session ahead of your wedding (weeks or months). It is a great way for us to get to know one another. If you’d like a longer engagement session we can make that happen too.

Where should we meet for our engagement session?

I shoot on location or in my Edgecomb studio. When outside I like to choose a natural setting or a place that is special to you. We’ll agree on a place ahead of time. Natural locations with trees, shrubs, flowers, water or fields are so inspiring. A backyard can be perfect, and a barn or building as a backdrop can work beautifully. Strolling through a town or city is lovely too, especially just ahead of sunset.

What about the weather?

Don’t be discouraged by cloudy or even rainy weather, both can produce beautiful light and colors. Rain can make for a truly memorable and magical day, stunning images and lots of smiles. We can find a place under cover and/or go adventuring. Plan ahead with a change of clothes that you’ll feel gorgeous in later if you do choose to go out in the weather. I always make it work and surprises can be fun. 

What if we don’t know how to pose?

I think it’s great if you don’t know how to pose. We want to capture your true selves. I do want to know what you like and what you are hoping for in your photographs. Please share with me. You can even send me photos that you like ahead of time if there is a look that you love. You don’t have to have a plan or any experience posing. Just enjoy yourself and we’ll keep it relaxing, open and fun.

What about the wedding day schedule?

I have some scheduling and staging suggestions to share with you if you choose to book with me. We can work together on this once we work out the big picture.

Do you do first looks?

I love first looks. I know not everyone likes the idea, and if it isn’t for you that is okay. It’s your day! But if you are open to it they work so, so well. What I love about a first look is that it gives the two of you time alone, before sharing yourselves with anyone else, to just soak up the moment, take a deep breath and enjoy. The energy changes so much after your ceremony and it can be hard for me to take you away from all of the people that want to celebrate and spend time with you. A first look will give us time to take gorgeous, peaceful photographs. We can also do wedding party and family photographs before the ceremony.

Do you work off of a shot list?

Yes and no. The scheduling and staging suggestions I’ll share with you once we’ve booked will help us to outline your expectations. And I of course want to take the pictures that you will treasure for years to come. The best way to achieve this is to assign someone from your family or wedding party to me, to make sure they tell me who is who and to help direct me to specific groups. They can even help to gather the groups together for us. This way I’m sure to include the people and special moments that you want covered. We'll work together on the day's schedule, so that I can be sure to be ready for each part of the celebration as it is approaching and unfolding.

What about documenting our wedding details?

Please send me your invitations, save the dates and any other printed material that you create. I want to photograph these things for you. Also, while you are all getting ready I‘ll photograph dresses, accessories, shoes, scenes and special items.

Do you bring a second photographer?

I don’t typically work with a second photographer. If you would really like a second photographer to attend with me I’m happy to call in a colleague (though this will change the fee).

Are you insured?

Yes I am.

What if we have to cancel or reschedule?

Deposits will be retained if you cancel, if we cannot reschedule, and/or if you are in breach of contract. If we are able to reschedule then your deposit will go toward the rescheduled event.

What if you have an accident and can’t make the wedding?

This has never happened to me, and I hope it never does. Fortunately I have a network of dedicated professionals that I can reach out to. In the case of an act of nature preventing me from making it to your wedding I will do my absolute best to fill my place with another great photographer and your fees will not change. If I’m unable to do this you will receive a full refund.

How do we make sure we have you booked for our wedding?

Once we have signed a contract and I have received your $1,000 deposit then you have me booked for the dates that we entered into the contract. I’ll keep in touch with you about schedule, planning and details as we move forward.

When will I receive my photos?

Give me two months for weddings and elopements and at least two weeks for engagement sessions. I want to be sure your edits are perfect. I’ll send you print resolution images via an online gallery. I always try to get a handful of stellar images out to you right away. Waiting two months is so hard and I know you want to share the joy. For this reason I work hard to get several great shots out to you within a few days.

Do you offer prints and albums?

Many couples that I work with opt to build their own albums after they've had time to really soak up their experience. There are several printing companies I'm happy to recommend if you don’t already have a favorite, and for an additional fee I will gladly work with you if you'd like design support. You’ll receive a print release with your final images, so you are free to print them wherever and whenever you would like.

Can we post your photos to social media?

Yes! And PLEASE tag me! This is so important to my work and I so appreciate your support this way. You are more than welcome to post the photographs whenever and wherever but please don’t edit them with filters, etc. as I’ve spent hours editing already. Thanks!
